AGS has implemented automated parts logistics with two robots around a grinding machine. Different doors and board materials are detected, stacked, fed into processing and picked up again after grinding. Barcode detection and thickness measurement combine material handling and recipe control.
Project highlights
Two industrial robots for loading and unloading
Grinding process for large-format doors and panels
Component handling up to 150 kg
Barcode recognition and thickness measurement
Processing of up to two stacks in parallel
Automatic transfer between both robots
Application & machining processes
Automatic removal and feeding of components
Sequence-compliant stack handling
Repeated grinding without loss of order sequence
Transfer of components between the robots
Partial manual operation for special parts possible
Operating & control concept
Central operation at the grinding machine
Recipe control via barcode and thickness measurement
Automatic sequence control with status feedback
Safety concept
Full enclosure with 3.5 m high safety fence
Access doors for operation and service
Wide sliding door for goods exchange
Light barriers in the loading area
Safety PLC with coordinated logic
Result
High productivity with low staffing requirements
Reduced physical strain
Consistent quality through standardised processes
Order system connection and traceability
Compact layout with high process reliability
