Solution
Handling / Palletising

A robot cell handles the automatic depalletising of batteries and transfers them in the correct orientation to the downstream conveyor technology. A camera system detects the size and orientation of the batteries; the robot grips, aligns and positions each product reproducibly. Empty pallets and slip sheets are also organised within the cell.

Project highlights

  • Camera-aided position and size determination
  • Gripper with vacuum technology and mechanical clamping
  • Automatic alignment before conveyor belt transfer
  • Empty pallets are automatically collected and stacked
  • Separate storage of interlayers
  • Rear discharge of reject pallets
  • Cycle time: 8 batteries per minute

Application & machining processes

  • Detection of battery size and orientation
  • Safe picking from the stack
  • Alignment and correct positional placement on the conveyor belt
  • Collection of empty pallets
  • Separate handling of interlayers and empty pallets

Operating & control concept

  • Camera and robotics data are linked for the automatic gripping strategy
  • Automatic sequence from stack to conveyor transfer

Safety concept

  • [OPEN – no separate technical specifications for the safety concept are contained in the source document.]

Result

  • Reduced manual lifting and sorting work
  • Reproducible product alignment
  • Stable material flow to the downstream system
  • Integrated handling of pallets and intermediate layers
