🪵⚙️ High-tech picking and packaging of decking boards and substructures 🦾
Precise alignment. Reliable layer formation. Automatic packaging.
With this project, AGS is implementing a fully integrated custom system for picking and packaging deck boards, including substructures, for a company in the decking and fencing industry.
The challenge: The usable sides of the decking boards are randomly oriented on the pallets. Nevertheless, the end result must be a neatly aligned, bundled, and shipping-ready package.
This is exactly where well-designed automation proves its worth. 🦾
Randomly oriented decking packages are transformed into a picked, correctly oriented, and shipping-ready product package, including the substructure and accompanying items.
The process:
Decking packages are automatically stored, separated, inspected via vision scan, turned if necessary, stacked layer by layer, and then automatically bundled, strapped, and labeled.
📦 1 package = 196 floorboards
📈 Performance target: at least 10 packages in 10 hours
⚙️ System availability: 97.5%
🪵 27 product variants, lengths from 2.9 to 4.0 m
🤝 Minimal manual effort with maximum process reliability
The system thus answers a key question for many manufacturing facilities:
How can production be stable, reliable, and reproducible with as little manual effort as possible?
The result:
Greater efficiency. Greater process reliability. Reproducible quality. Less physical strain on employees. And a material flow that remains stable even over long production periods.
From warehouse management, conveyor technology, and robotics to vision systems, PLCs, HMI/visualization, safety, ERP integration, and virtual commissioning—the solution comes from a single source.
This transforms complex handling into a seamless, automated process.
