End-of-Line Palletizing by AGS 🦾📦
AGS has implemented a custom-built end-of-line palletizing system. The system automates the final step of the production line, relieving employees of physically demanding and repetitive tasks while simultaneously improving workplace safety. The automated process enhances throughput, system availability, and the stability of the palletizing process.
🔄 Carton packs from multiple packaging lines are sorted by type, inspected using camera technology, and consolidated via a multi-stage conveyor and layer-forming unit. An industrial robot uses a vacuum system to pick up the formed layers, place them at multiple stacking positions, and, if necessary, add non-slip interlayers to secure the stacks. Non-compliant units are automatically diverted, and pallets are removed via an integrated conveyor and transverse shifting system.
🤖 The transport of empty pallets to the system, as well as the removal of full pallets from the system, is handled by an automated guided vehicle (AGV) system.
💻 A key added value stems from the digital design of the system. Even before implementation, material flow, motion sequences, and end-of-line processes were simulated and optimized using a digital twin. This allowed adjustments to be evaluated early on, modifications to be minimized, and commissioning times to be significantly shortened. ✨✨✨
✅ The result is a robust, safe, and efficient end-of-line process with high repeatability and consistent process quality.
