🔋 AGS Custom System for Depalletizing Batteries: Ensuring Every Product Takes the Right Path Automatically. 🦾 We implemented a robotic cell for depalletizing batteries for a long-standing partner. Final on-site commissioning will take place in the coming weeks.
The task sounds simple: remove batteries from a stack and place them on a conveyor belt. In practice, however, it involves a precise automated process consisting of detection, gripping, alignment, and transfer.
The process begins with position detection:
A camera system detects the battery’s size and orientation. This tells the robot how the battery is positioned and how it needs to be picked up.
Then the robot takes over:
Using a gripper that combines vacuum technology and mechanical clamping, the robot safely lifts the battery from the stack, aligns it correctly, and places it in the proper orientation on the conveyor belt.
Pallet handling is also integrated:
Empty pallets are collected in the Palomaten, neatly stacked, and can then be transported away. Intermediate layers are stored separately within the cell. Rejected pallets can be ejected backward.
This creates a stable material flow that reduces manual lifting and sorting work and consistently transfers batteries in the correct orientation to the next process.
