For a production line in the mobility sector, AGS implemented an automated palletising solution for heavy lead stacks. The robot stacks the products, including intermediate layers, onto pallets and then transfers them automatically to the downstream cooling and thermal section.
Project highlights
- Robot with 180 kg payload
- Automatic pallet magazine
- Conveyor line with integrated cooling section
- Multi-functional gripper for lead plates and interlayers
- Lifting unit and chain conveyor at the palletising station
- Thermal tunnel with roller conveyor
Application & machining processes
- Acceptance of prepared sheet stacks
- Order-dependent stacking in defined layers
- Automatic insertion of interlayers
- Onward transport of the finished pallet through the thermal section
Operating & control concept
- Central PLC control with visualisation
- Recipe connection for type-specific processes
- Sensor-based positioning of pallets and interlayers
- Combined mechanical and vacuum-based gripping technology
Safety concept
- Light curtains and acknowledgement buttons at inlets and outlets
- Pneumatic safety gates with monitored end positions
- Defined safety areas and release logic
Result
- Continuous material flow
- High stacking quality
- Reduced physical strain
- Automated transition to downstream processes
