🧠 Artificial intelligence – hype or a real opportunity for the industry?
Our Technical Director Wolfgang Stauber was a guest at an exciting specialist event of the Mechatronics Cluster on May 7, 2025 – hosted by the KEBA Group in Linz. The focus: artificial intelligence in industrial practice.
📌 Key takeaways from the presentation:
– AI enables scientific results that were previously impossible to implement – but is currently coming up against technical and energy limits.
– The energy consumption is high: e.g. ChatGPT requires approx. 1 kWh for 350 requests – the human brain manages something comparable with just 20 W.
– In industry, AI is currently mainly used as an aid for document searches and material and quality checks.
– There is still a lack of process reliability and clear standards and guidelines for widespread industrial use.
🔍 Conclusion:
AI is more than just hype – but in the industrial environment, it still needs time, practical relevance and clear framework conditions to safely develop its full potential.
📸 The event took place at the KEBA Group’s research base – a space where perspectives are deliberately exchanged in order to develop new solutions together. Thanks to KEBA & the Mechatronics Cluster for the invitation and the open exchange!
